How salary is converted to an hourly rate
The calculator first converts your pay to an annual amount. It then divides that amount by your scheduled hours per week multiplied by your working weeks per year.
Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × working weeks per year)
Account for unpaid time away
If you are not paid during vacation or shutdown weeks, reduce the working-weeks value. For example, 40 hours a week over 48 paid weeks produces a different hourly equivalent than 52 paid weeks.

No. It compares gross base pay only. Employer benefits, taxes, bonuses and overtime can materially change total compensation.
Why is monthly pay multiplied by 12?
Monthly pay has 12 periods each year. Weekly and biweekly amounts use 52 and 26 standard periods respectively.
