What is included

Both templates contain clearly color-coded input and formula areas, instructions and example settings. Enter clock-in and clock-out values as spreadsheet times, enter unpaid breaks in minutes and set an hourly rate only if you want a pay estimate.

How the formulas work

Each day subtracts the start time and unpaid break from the end time. If the shift crosses midnight, the formula rolls the end into the following day. Weekly overtime is the portion of weekly hours above the editable threshold.

Daily hours = MOD(end − start, 1) × 24 − (unpaid break minutes ÷ 60)

Use in Google Sheets

  1. Download the Excel file.
  2. In Google Drive, choose New → File upload.
  3. Open the uploaded workbook with Google Sheets.

Spreadsheet applications can display time and formulas slightly differently. Check the totals before relying on the file for payroll.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to provide an email address?

No. Both files are direct downloads and do not require an account or email address.

Are the templates payroll software?

No. They organize entries and estimate totals. They do not apply every employment rule, tax, deduction or payroll policy.

Can I change the overtime threshold?

Yes. Both templates include an editable weekly threshold and multiplier. In the biweekly workbook, overtime is still calculated separately for each week.
